A Lock Of George Washington’s Hair Was Found In A Book At A College Library In New York (Video)

This story seems so unbelievable, but it appears to be legit!

During a recent inventory of the library at Union College in upstate New York, a lock of George Washington’s actual hair was found tucked in the pages of an old book titled “Gaines Universal Register or American and British Kalendar for the Year 1793.” Along with the hair is a handwritten inscription identifying it as Washington’s hair, and another inscription that says the book belonged to someone who was a known family friend of Washington’s.

While some may find it hard to believe that it’s actually Washington’s hair, apparently all of the clues add up. The book is known to have belonged to a close friend of Washinton’s. And during that time, it was very common to give a close friend a lock of hair.

Officials at Union College say that they have plans to display the lock of Washington’s hair at some point in the future.
