Pursuit

On March 16th at around 1:45 a.m., an officer observed a Chrysler Concorde westbound on Canyon Lake Drive with an improperly lighted license plate. The officers attempted a traffic stop on the car, but the vehicle did not stop. Instead, it turned into the driveway of Sioux San Hospital and continued driving through their campus before exiting to turn south onto Soo San Drive. The pursuit continued southbound before turning east onto West Flormann Street and then south onto Sheridan Lake Road. The vehicle pulled into the driveway of a residence in the 2600 block of Castle Heights Place and the driver exited the vehicle in an attempt to run into the house. Police were able to quickly apprehend her before doing so. She was identified as 25-year-old Alice Highrock of Rapid City. Police noted the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. Officers also located several open alcohol containers in the vehicle. As police investigated the incident, it was determined that Highrock’s driver’s license is revoked, she is on probation, and had a warrant for her arrest. Highrock was placed under arrest for DUI (4th offense), Eluding, Open Container in a Motor Vehicle, Stop Sign Violation, Driving Under Revocation, Improperly Lighted License Plate, a Probation Hold, and her Warrant. She was subsequently transported to the Pennington County Jail.
