Pursuit

On March 20th at around 2:15 a.m., two police officers were refueling their respective patrol cars at 35 Omaha Street when they both observed a passenger car travelling southbound on East Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The vehicle ran the red light at East Boulevard and Saint Joseph Street. Both officers entered their patrol cars and headed south on East Boulevard to locate the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was spotted along Signal Drive. The vehicle did not stop for police and continued westbound as the road turns into St. Cloud Street. The pursuit continued on St. Cloud Street until the vehicle pulled onto Forest Drive and came to a stop. The male driver of the vehicle opened the door and fled the area on foot. Police pursued and the driver tripped over a fence in the wooded area. The officer drew his Taser and ordered the suspect to stop, which he did. He was placed in handcuffs and identified as 19-year-old Mitchell Crow of Oglala. Police noted the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from Crow’s person. Following a DUI investigation, Crow was placed under arrest for DUI, Minor Consuming, Eluding, Obstruction, Stop Sign Violation, and Failure to Stop at a Flashing Red Light. He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
