Vehicle Crash

On March 19th at around 11:55 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Haines Avenue for a report of a vehicle that had struck a residence. On arrival, officers located the vehicle. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Caleb Summers of Rapid City, was sitting in the vehicle. Based on tire marks, it was evident that the vehicle had been northbound on Haines Avenue, drifted across the oncoming lanes of traffic, and struck the residence on the west side of the street. Damage to the residence was minimal. Police made contact with Summers and began a DUI investigation. Based on the investigation, police determined that Summers was too impaired to be driving. A urinalysis on Summers tested positive for methamphetamine and THC.  Ultimately, Summers was placed under arrest for DUI, Ingestion of a Controlled Substance, Ingestion of a Substance Other than Alcohol to Intoxicate, Careless Driving, Driving without a Valid License, and a Parole Hold.
