Back in 1998, Katie Couric lost her husband to colon cancer, leading her to be a major advocate for awareness and also for people to make sure to get colonoscopies!
In her advocacy efforts, years ago Couric also got her first colonoscopy live on the TODAY show, now she has expanded the movement and convinced Jimmy Kimmel to get one live on his show!
Using it as an opportunity to show people how easy and important it is, Kimmel also took some moments to add humor to an otherwise uncomfortable procedure to talk about.
“I’m telling you, I’ve met some real perverts in my life but you take the cake, Katie Couric,” said Kimmel.
The colonoscopy goes off without a hitch, and the only abnormalities they found up there were Kimmel’s keys, a harmonica, and some toy soldiers!
Unless you’re like Justin and have somehow had “too many” colonoscopies, the goal of Jimmy doing this on TV was to get more people out there to get screened. So if you like knowing you’re cancer-free go get your butt played with for a bit! Yay health! *high fives*
