Russell Martin Makes A Great Catch, Immediately Gets Smacked In The Face By A Fence (Video)

Yesterday during a Spring Training game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies, Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin made a pretty incredible play.

Odubel Herrera was at the plate and popped the ball up toward the dugout. Martin ranged back, made a great catch but immediately crashed into a short net/fence protecting the players in the dugout. Some of the Phillies helped him to his feet, but Martin got a bit tangled in the net, tripped and fell back to the ground. Unfortunately, since he was tangled, the fence fell on top of him and the main support pole smacked him right in the face! IN THE FAAAAAACE!

To Martin’s credit, he seemed to laugh it off and didn’t appear to be injured from the whole ordeal.
