People are all up in arms for animal rights after a video of Coneyman Police in Albany County attempting to run over a raccoon had gone viral.
What people don’t know is that the raccoon was, in fact, positive for rabies and was in a public plaza and therefore could not be shot.
Now, maybe running it over with the police car is probably not the best way to do it but luckily they were eventually able to get rid of it quickly and humanely. At least that’s what they said in their statement.
All in all, yeah raccoons are cute and they’re one of the good lord’s creatures and you really shouldn’t just screw with them for s**ts and giggles but they do cause a lot of problems and could, you know, spread rabies.
Whatever side you’re on, at least the raccoon is in a better place and doesn’t have to concern himself with wasting his time debating his death.
