Patrick Reed, 27, won the Masters this weekend thus marking one of the biggest moments of his golf career! It’s pretty awesome and he definitely seemed happy about it but we wonder how he felt after watching Nick Faldo use an Imagine Dragons quote to announce Reed’s win.
Before you ask, “wait, why Imagine Dragons?” we should also point out that Jim Nantz called Reed “Captain America.”
“Captain America captures Augusta,” said Nantz. Now, once we get some context this one makes sense because Reed earned the nickname after dominating for America in the Ryder Cup.
Now back to Imagine Dragons. After Nantz announces Reed’s win, Faldo picks up in complete monotone fashion with lyrics from Imagine Dragons’ 5-year-old hit “Radioactive.”
“As Imagine Dragons would say, ‘Welcome to the new age, to the new age,'” said Faldo.
Now this is extremely confusing even after we later find out that Reed’s love for the band was mentioned earlier. Someone’s celebration should not be met with so much confusion but we guess we can applaud Faldo for trying to be “hip” with a younger generation of golf pros!
So if you want to be as “with it” as Faldo, we’ll also attach the song’s music video below so you can jam out like a Masters champ.
