Pursuit

On April 14th at around 1:05 a.m., police observed a passenger vehicle fail to stop before leaving the parking lot at 1721 N. Maple Avenue. A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle in the area of area of Herman Street and Downing Street. The vehicle did not stop. Police pursued the vehicle before it came to a stop in at the dead end of Brentwood Drive. The driver exited the vehicle and fled to the west. After a short foot pursuit, the driver fell in the snow and was apprehended by police. He was identified as 27-year-old Louis Ironcloud of Rapid City. A search of the vehicle turned up marijuana, and a baggie located on Ironcloud’s person field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Ironcloud was placed under arrest and transported to the Pennington County Jail. There, a urinalysis tested positive for methamphetamine and THC. When all was said and done, Iron Cloud was placed under arrest for the offenses of Eluding Law Enforcement, Obstruction, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Ingestion of a Controlled Substance, Ingestion of a Substance (excluding alcohol) to Intoxicate, Failure to Stop, Driving without a Valid License, and a Warrant.
