Traffic Stop

On May 13th around 11:10 p.m., police were dispatched to 1613 Kellogg Place for a report of a male threatening another individual with a crowbar. While police were en route, it was reported that that suspect had gotten into a passenger vehicle and driven away from the scene. The suspect vehicle was located driving along East Boulevard. The vehicle was seen driving erratically. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the vehicle pulled over in the area of Kansas City Street and Myrtle Avenue. Both occupants were ordered out of the car. The driver was identified as 24-year-old Bret Sharpfish of Rapid City, and the passenger was identified as 22-year-old Mariah Bissonette of Rapid City. Police noted the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from Sharpfish’s person. As police conducted a pre-tow inventory of the vehicle, several open alcohol containers were located inside. Police located a purse belonging to Bissonette. Inside the purse, police located a digital scale and two snort tubes. These items field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Ultimately, Sharpfish was placed under arrest for DUI, Driving Under Suspension, Exhibition Driving, Open Container in a Motor Vehicle, and a Probation Hold. Bissonette was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
