You know there’s a whole song and even a whole TV show about how Will Smith became “the prince of Bel-Air” but we’ve never really known how he actually got there! Well here he is, the Fresh Prince himself, telling you the real story of how his life got flipped, turned upside-down!
It all started when his debut album, He’s The DJ, I’m The Rapper with DJ Jazzy Jeff, went triple platinum and won a grammy and made them very rich.
Of course when you’re young and suddenly rich and famous, you don’t really know what to do other than spend it all! And spend it he did, except he forgot one entity some of that money had to go to, Uncle Sam on tax day!
Not only had Smith spent all his money, he got his cool stuff taken away, his second album flopped and he was suddenly broke but still somewhat relevant.
His girlfriend got him to go to the Arsenio Hall Show where he met Quincy Jones, ended up at Jonses’ house and before he knew it he was auditioning for his role that would launch him into superstardom on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air!
So if you take anything from this story from Smith, we hope it inspired you to listen to your girlfriends when they tell you to get off your a** and do something great!
