Peter King Of ‘Monday Morning Quarterback’ Writes Farewell Column And Helps Share Brett Favre’s Story Of Battling Addiction

After a 29-year career with Sports Illustrated, Peter King is ready to hang his hat on his column, Monday Morning Quarterback but not before his farewell post lays it all out on the table.

Among King’s many thank-yous in his farewell column (find it here) one that stands out most is Brett Favre’s story of addiction.

Many didn’t even know Favre struggled with an addiction to pills and alcohol, even King didn’t know until Favre revealed what was really going on back in 1995 he spent three days with King.

In an interview for the column Favre said he understands King’s surprise at the time as to how much energy he had but it was really because he was about to spend 72 days in rehab in Kansas City. This came after two previous stints at a Louisiana rehab facility for pills and alcohol and after taking over a dozen Vicodin pills at once, Favre decided it was time to make an important change.

The interview goes on to pull the curtain back even more on Favre’s story but in King’s thank-you to him he said, “Thank you, Brett Favre, for being the most compelling person I’ve covered in my 29 years here.”
