J.R. Smith Cost The Cavaliers The Game With A Late-Game Blunder (Video)

Last night, with just five seconds left in Game 1 of the NBA finals between the Cavaliers and the Warriors, the Cavs’ J.R. Smith had a blunder that pretty much cost them the game.

With the game tied at 107, the Cavs’ George King missed his second of two free throws. Smith grabbed the rebound and instead of putting up a shot or passing the ball off quickly, he appeared to dribble out the clock. Teammate LeBron James was pointing emphatically for Smith to either shoot or pass the ball, which he eventually did, but it was too late. Time ran out and the game went to overtime. The Warriors ended up winning the game 124-114 and lead the series 1-0.

After the game, Smith insists that he knew that the game was tied and was just trying to get open to pass the ball. But no one is really buying it.
