Pursuit

On 06-11-2018 at about 6:10 a.m. the Rapid City Police Department received a call of a possible intoxicated driver in the area of E. Highway 44 & Twilight Dr. It was reported that a beige Ford F150 pickup was driving all over the roadway heading into Rapid City. It was driving down the median, bouncing off curbs and nearly striking other vehicles. Officers caught up to the pickup near LaCrosse St. and E. Omaha St. The pickup refused to stop for officers. A pursuit was initiated and continued to the south side of town. The driver of the pickup was seen throwing baggies out the window that when they hit the ground resulted in a white powdery cloud. The pursuit was then terminated for the safety of the public. A few minutes later the Ford pickup was found abandoned near the intersection of E. Centennial & Elm Ave. and a perimeter was established. The suspect, later identified as 33 year old Christopher Luke of Rapid City, was seen running through yards. A short time later a foot pursuit ensued and Christopher was captured by officers. He was taken into custody and charged with Driving on a Revoked License, Ingestion of a Controlled Drug or Substance, DUI 1st Offense, Aggravated Eluding of Law Enforcement, Ingesting a Substance Other than Alcohol to Become Intoxicated, Obstructing a Police Officer, Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and placed at the Pennington County Jail.
