Every year, one of the biggest awards at the ESPYS is the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage.
It typically goes to someone who showed great courage or triumph in the world of sports but this year it went to over 140 women.
This year, the Arthur Ashe Award was given to the victims of Larry Nassar whose story shook the nation for months.
These women showed amazing courage speaking out and eventually seeing their abuser put away for life.
Former gymnast and Nassar victim Sarah Klein presented the award for the group, along with Aly Raisman and Tiffany Thomas Lopez.
It was an extremely powerful moment and these women finally got the upmost recognition for their courage and that in itself is important.
“To all the survivors out there, don’t let anyone rewrite your story. Your truth does matter. You matter. And you are not alone.”
