Cleveland Radio Legend John Lanigan Abruptly Quits On Air (Video)

As we all get older, retirement definitely is something to look forward to. Some people like to go out with grace and glory and others want to set that glory ablaze. We’re not sure which side John Lanigan is on after he abruptly quit WTAM in Cleveland on-air.

Forty-four years of radio and being inducted into the hall of fame in 2013 must have been just enough for Lanigan when he came to the decision to “retire” recently.

“I’m quitting today. I’ve done it before,” said Lanigan during his on-air explanation. “My one son said, ‘Oh. You’re retiring again, huh dad?’ Yep, that’s it, I’m done.”

Lanigan said it has all just not been fun anymore, he doesn’t feel “smart enough” to keep up, and doesn’t care about the Browns or politics. With all of that, he said he just doesn’t feel comfortable to sit and tell people what they should or shouldn’t think anymore.

He continued on, explaining a bit further, and said he won’t be back.

“I hope you have a great time with the show. Adios, goodbye,” he said, finishing the broadcast and his career.

We guess that’s one way to go out! Congrats on your career and retirement, Lanigan! Good luck with a politics and football-free life!
