The Eagles Use A Trick Play, Reminiscent Of The ‘Philly Special’ From The Super Bowl, Against The Atlanta Falcons (Video)

Remember back in February when the Philadelphia Eagles ran a trick play in which they threw a touchdown pass to quarterback Nick Foles against the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl? Well, they were up to their old tricks again last night during their first game of the 2018 season against the Atlanta Falcons!

Midway through the third quarter, the Eagles were trailing the Falcons 6-3 and had nearly no offense to speak of to that point. Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor took a handoff and threw a pass to quarterback Nick Foles for a first down and 15 yard gain overall. This play set up a Jay Ajayi touchdown run. The Eagles eventually won the game 18-12.

The play, which Eagles coach Doug Pederson revealed in the press conference after the game, was actually the same play that the Patriots attempted in the Super Bowl back in February. Tom Brady was unable to catch the pass and it resulted in some pretty incredible memes.
