A week-old alpaca is lucky to be alive after being attacked by a cougar while in its enclosure at an alpaca farm in Washington recently.
In the video below, you can see surveillance footage of the baby alpaca laying down with his mother in an enclosure. All of a sudden, all of the alpacas stand up and their attention is focussed on a cougar, who managed to make its way inside. The cougar quickly snatches up the young 15-pound alpaca and begins to try and get away with him. But mama alpaca is having none of it and manages to get the cougar to drop her baby and chases it away.
The baby alpaca survived the attack, received some medical attention and has since been named “Lucky” after surviving such an ordeal.
