On Tuesday, 87-year-old Earl Livingston of New Jersey fell and broke his hip on the way to buy lottery tickets for the $1.6 billion Mega Millions jackpot. While Earl was in the hospital recovering, he joined the hospital lottery pool, which had 141 people total participating. Well, it turns out that one of their tickets was a million dollar winner! Talk about a lucky break!
Since there were 141 people in the pool, each of them only gets around $7,000, but still. Not a bad return on a couple dollar investment. Hopefully Earl still has something left over after the hospital bills are paid!
