Mike Francesa, otherwise known in the sports radio world as the “Sports Pope,” has finally had enough with NY Post columnist Andrew Marchand.
Recently, Francesa launched a subscription-based app that allows you to listen to and watch his radio show, and has some other added content. The subscription costs $8.99 a month. Marchand has apparently referenced the cost of Francesa’s app by saying that he probably doesn’t have more than 300 subscribers.
On Wednesday, Francesa finally addressed the matter in a 17-minute long rant about Marchand, calling him a “wanna-be” who couldn’t get a radio job and essentially mocking everything he’s done in his career, calling him pathetic. Francesa then challenged Marchand to back up his statements, saying that he’d pay him $10,000 for every subscriber under 800 his app supposedly has.
Perhaps you heard about Mike Francesa’s total destruction of NY Post columnist @AndrewMarchand today. Andrew frequently opines that Mike’s app has very few subscribers, and Mike finally lost his patience. He went off for about 17 minutes. I boiled it down to the best 2:20. pic.twitter.com/N0OO2GjUIK

Marchand reached out to Francesa to set up an interview, but that didn’t work out.
Update: I called Mark Chernoff to set up an interview with Mike Francesa about his app. Mike apparently wants $500,000 in escrow to do it. He recommended I deal directly with Mike. I have left Mike a message.
