Stranger Hack’s Family’s Nanny Cam, Talks To Their Five-Year-Old Son (Video)

A mother on Long Island recently realized that someone had hacked into her family’s nanny cam and was using it to talk to her son. The camera is a Nest-branded camera, which has the ability for two-way communication. It was normal for the woman’s husband to communicate with their five-year-old son through the camera each afternoon, but one day, an unfamiliar voice started asking her son questions about the toys he was playing with and whether he rode the bus home from school. The mother walked in while this was all going on, the stranger on the other end of the camera addressed her directly, and she responded by saying she was going to call the police and unplugging the camera.

Unfortunately, the police said that there was not much they could do, and Nest’s only recommendation was to change the account password and enable two-factor verification for their account. So if you have one of these cameras, you may want to consider doing the same thing!
