Sonny Pumphrey, 78, was cleaning leaves in his home’s yard in North Carolina when a bear and her three cubs decided to come pick a fight!
The two cubs ran but the mom decided she was not about to leave Pumphrey to his business and ran towards him to attack.
Defenseless with nowhere to go, Sonny did the only thing he could think of, got his fists ready and just started swinging!
Pumphrey was able to land a few blows but, naturally, the bear was able to get a hold of his hip and shook him up a bit.
Eventually Pumphrey’s wife ran out with their yorkie (as if that would be any kind of help as backup in a bear fight) and the commotion was enough to scare the momma bear away!
Sonny went to the hospital and once he’s done with his series of rabies shots, he will be all good to go!
We can only hope to be this badass when we are 78! We could definitely do without the bears, though.
