A Deeper Look At Furries Shows They Want People To Know They Are Not Just About Sex (Video)

On CNN’s This Is Life With Lisa Ling, we get a deeper look into the “Furry” lifestyle and it is actually interesting!

First off, contrary to somewhat popular belief, furries want people to know “their culture is not about sex.”

Sure the sex, or what furries refer to as “yiffing” is fetishized by some in the community but it is not the main purpose.

Furries come from all walks of life and things you never realized could also qualify you as a furry!

Do you doodle yourself as an animal-like alter-ego, better known in the community as a “fursona”? You could be a furry!

Even “Bronies” (those dudes obsessed with My Little Pony) are welcomed by the furries!

Some don’t even own costumes at all, while others use the costumes as a way to boost their confidence and (somewhat) anonymously let their personality shine.

“Demographically, it’s mostly white,” said Dr. Courtney Plante, a researcher studying furries at multiple universities. “They tend to be sort of middle class and they tend to be what you think of as nerds.”

Which, okay, is not really that shocking but the fact the furry lifestyle is actually being researched and brought into the mainstream comes as a relief to many furries!

So, while it is not something we personally find appealing, good for these people…or animals…we’re not sure how to be right here but we’re happy for y’all nonetheless.
