DUI/Vandalism

At around 9:10 a.m. on January 21st, police were dispatched to 4811 Homestead Street for a report of a male that was using a sledgehammer to break into an apartment. It was reported that an unknown male had tried to smash in an apartment door at the address with a sledgehammer. The man then attempted to smash in the door to a second apartment across the hallway from the first. On arrival, police located the suspect driving a pickup truck in the parking lot at the address. Police made contact with him and asked him to step out of the vehicle. He was identified as 40-year-old Albert Hill. During the course of the investigation, police learned that one of the apartments he was attempting to gain entry to was his. In their interactions with Hill, police noted that Hill’s speech and movements were slow, and his eyes were bloodshot and watery. Following a DUI investigation, it was determined that Hill was too impaired to safely operate a motor vehicle. Hill was placed under arrest for 2nd Degree Vandalism and DUI (2nd). He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
