Thirty-eight years ago, Bob Sportel was in his early 20’s and just needed a cheap ride to get to and from work!
So he bought a 1957 Chevy pickup from a local farmer for only $75 and has been driving it ever since!
Somehow this thing is still running and aside from a whole lot of rust, it’s still held together with the help of duct tape and bondo!
“If I could get four years out of it, I thought I’d be really happy,” said Sportel.
He must be elated now, though, because he’s gotten 300,000 miles and 38 years out of it!
Of course he could have bought a new car since but “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” and so as long as it runs he’s still driving it!
While this is really a cool story, is there anyone out there who can top this when it comes to being cheap as hell!?
