Elephant Seals Take Over California Beach In Wake Of Government Shutdown (Video)

The over 30-day-long government shutdown definitely made history, not just as the longest in American history but also because it left thousands of workers without paychecks and wreaked havoc on our national parks.

Point Reyes National Seashore is experiencing a particularly unique situation in post-shutdown aftermath when 50 to 60 adult elephant seals showed up to give birth on the beach!

After storms and high tides limited where the seals could go and the shutdown leaving Point Reyes practically deserted they just decided to take over!

The seals gave birth to 30 to 40 seal pups that will now need to be close to their mothers and nursing for the next few months, putting park rangers in a real pickle!

Judging by how humans have destroyed other national parks, we are not sure how long this beautiful display of life will remain that way…because people suck…
