You would think in 2019, the old “cheerleaders should be perfect” trope would be long gone but here we are with yet another issue that now has the ACLU involved.
Girls as young as 14-years-old on this high school cheer squad were subject to “gag awards” at their cheer banquet that have now been called out for their body-shaming messages.
Awards like “Big Booty Judy” and “String Bean” were given to the girls but apparently none of them brought it forward because it was “normal.”
Not only is it a shame that something like this is “normal” it is a shame that nothing came of this until the dang ACLU got involved.
Nobody stopped and said “hey maybe we shouldn’t do this with high school girls” ??
