DUI

On February 24th at around 2:10 a.m., an officer was stopped for a red light in the southernmost lane of Main Street at its intersection with Mt. Rushmore Road. While waiting for the red light, a Chevy Tahoe parked in front of 305 Mt. Rushmore Road began to back out of the parking space, striking the officer’s vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, identified as 34-year-old Cassandra Moore of Rapid City, the officer noted the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. Following a DUI investigation, if was determined that Moore was too impaired to safely operate a motor vehicle. She was placed under arrest for DUI, Unsafe Backing, and No Proof of Insurance. She was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
