Robbery

UPDATE: Police were able to review the surveillance video provided by the business of the incident. Thanks the high quality of the convenience store’s video equipment, law enforcement was able to generate leads on the identity of the suspect. Yesterday afternoon, police made contact with 33-year-old Wanbli Morris of Rapid City outside his residence in the 1100 block of Bluebird Court. With information gained in the subsequent investigation, police were able to determine that Morris was the suspect responsible for the robbery. He was placed under arrest for First Degree Robbery and transported to the Pennington County Jail.

On April 2nd at around 4:20 a.m., police were dispatched to 3275 Cambell Street for a robbery that had just occurred. On arrival, police made contact with an employee of the business. The employee told police that an unknown male subject had entered the business, grabbed a bottle of alcohol, made his way to the store counter, and brandished a knife. The suspect then charged at the employee with the knife and a physical struggle ensued from there. The suspect ended up departing the business on foot in an unknown direction without any cash or store property. The employee only received minor, superficial injuries in the struggle. The suspect is described by witnesses as a Native American male standing about 6’0” tall wearing a red puffy jacket with a hooded sweatshirt underneath. The suspect was also wearing black pants, black boots, and a white bandana over his face.
