A 53-year-old man in North Carolina was arrested for animal cruelty for abandoning his pet fish when he was evicted from his home last month.
Being left without care, the tank got dirty and the Oscar fish was malnourished and caught an infection.
This is definitely a first for an animal cruelty case but a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office said “If you harm or neglect an animal in New Hanover County, we are coming for you.”
Somehow the fish is now being rehabilitaed at a pet store, and will be put up for adoption soon!
