Child Smacked With Line-Drive Foul Ball At Cubs-Astros Game

At the Cubs-Astros game the other night, a particularly unlucky young fan was struck by a line-drive foul.

Cubs player Albert Almora Jr. says he knew immediately his foul ball had sailed past the safety nets and hit someone. Then he saw it was a little girl and dropped to his knees, crying.

His manager, Joe Maddon, tried to console him by saying it was not his fault and it could have happened to anyone.

The girl was hospitalized but no further updates have been released. Almora, a father of two, says he hopes to build a relationship with the girl and her family.

Well, this puts a whole new meaning on grand slam…
