Happy Summer! There’s Poo Bacteria In The Pool

Now that it’s July, we’re sure you all are enjoying cooling off in your pools, lakes, and rivers. But watch out! There’s a bunch of sh*t in the water…literally.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) just released a report that says a fecal parasite is causing an increasing number of illnesses and is spread by swimming.

The disease is nicknamed “Crypto” and causes symptoms such as nausea, cramps, and diarrhea. It’s easily carried through water since people can easily swallow the parasite-filled water.

Apparently other Crypto outbreaks have been linked to cattle farms, childcare centers (which are basically the same, sorry), and consumption of unpasteurized milk and apple cider.

So next time you’re swimming in a pool, just remember you’re swimming in poop water.

Happy summer, friends!
