Shortly before 1:30 p.m. on August 11th, police were dispatched to the I-90 bridge over Maple Avenue for a report of a vehicle that had left the interstate and had crashed into the embankment near the bridge. Medical arrived on scene and began assisting the lone occupant of the passenger car. After speaking to witnesses, police determined the vehicle had been attempting to merge with traffic after getting onto the onramp at N. Lacrosse Street. The vehicle was unable to merge with traffic and left the north side of the roadway, causing it to lose control, travel down the embankment, and crash onto Maple Avenue. Impairment does not appear to be a factor, and the driver refused medical transport from the scene.
