DUI Crash

On September 18th at around 10:10 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Surfwood Drive and Maple Avenue for a report of gunshots that were heard in the area. On arrival, police located an unoccupied Ford Mustang that had crashed into several vehicles (this would be determined to be the sound which was originally reported as gunshots). Police made contact with a witness who told police that a male, identified as 28-year-old Valentino Hoof of Rapid City, was highly intoxicated and attempted to drive the Mustang out of the parking lot. In the process, he hit several vehicles and fled the scene. A short time later, Hoof was located in a nearby apartment. Police noted the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crashes. After being cleared medically, Hoof was placed under arrest for DUI, five counts of Hit and Run, and a Probation Hold. I’ve attached a photo of some of the damage created in this incident.
