Vehicle-vs-Pedestrian Hit and Run

On September 18th around 10:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of E. Van Buren Street and N. Lacrosse Street for a report of a pedestrian that had just been struck by a vehicle. On arrival, police located the victim on the western sidewalk. Medical personnel arrived and began treating the victim. After speaking to witnesses, police learned that the victim was attempting to cross Lacrosse Street when she was struck by a southbound vehicle that did not stop after the crash. Witnesses described the vehicle as a silver midsize passenger sedan. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Based on evidence at the scene, police believe the suspect vehicle now has a damaged headlight.
