UPDATE 10/2: Konacin Blackelk was located in Rapid City this morning by deputies of the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody on his warrant without incident.

On September 27th at around 1:00 a.m., police were dispatched to an apartment at 906 Explorer Street for a disturbance. While on scene officers observed smoke coming from the apartment. Police made entry to the apartment in an attempt to evacuate any residents that may be inside. When they made entry, the observed flames in a back bedroom. Seeing no one else inside, officers exited the building and waited for fire resources to respond. As police worked to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire, they learned that 27-year-old Konacin Blackelk was inside the residence at the time officers began to notice smoke coming from the apartment.  A warrant has since been issued for Blackelk’s arrest for First Degree Arson. If anyone has any information about Blackelk’s whereabouts, they should contact police at 394-4131. An anonymous tip can also be sent by texting the letters ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
