Jacksonville Is Cracking Down On Stalking Apps

The FTC has brought a case against Retina-X which is the developer for for an app called MobileSpy. With the app you can see someones texts, locations and lots of other creepy detailed information. According to the report, Retina-X didn’t make sure the app’s users were using the technology for reasonable or legitimate purposes.

The biggest fear for law enforcement is that this tech could very easily get into the wrong hands. A person could potentially ask to borrow your phone for a simple call and in 2 minutes they could have the app downloaded and hidden from view so the victim is completely oblivious. Most app stores have a setting where you put in your account password in order to download any new apps.
