This is likely the most petty and egregious abuse of power from a Mayor after a RECREATIONAL kickball league’s umpire was fired. According to the umpire, Mr. Mayor got butt-hurt after a call was made against his team. The umpire has now filed a lawsuit, urging the investigation of the Mayor and possible misconduct.
The lawsuit states the Mayor threw a temper tantrum during a game on August 6th, then “pulling strings” to have the umpire removed from his part time position. With the umpire only taking in $1,200 per season so the suit isn’t about money, “It’s the message that our politicians cannot bully private citizens and get away with it” said Berkeley County lawyer Tom Fernandez.
The suit states that the Mayor’s son was called out upon nearing home base to which the Mayor exclaimed: “Are you stupid?” The umpire fairly responded saying he represents the town as a whole. The Mayor, like a spoiled rotten brat not getting his way yelled “I own this town! You won’t have to worry about representing this town anymore because you won’t be back out here.”
