World War II Veteran Shares Story About Beer Run During Battle

At 19 years old, this veteran was stationed in Bastogne, Belgium with the 101st Airborne Division’s 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment and boy, does he have some stories to tell!

One of his best, though, proves why Vincent Speranza truly is part of “the greatest generation”.

Looking for his wounded friend, he found him in a dilapidated church they turned into a makeshift “hospital” and there the only help his friend asked for was something to drink.

Knowing they were low on supplies, Speranza checked in abandoned taverns.

Like a port in a storm, Speranza found a working tap in one and filled his helmet with beer to bring back.

He probably was thought of as a god when he returned, not only with something to drink, but with beer!

This story and his others are all part of this longer video and if you have the time, or even if you don’t, you need to see it all!
