Director J. J. Abrams talked to Stephen Colbert on Monday night about a cryptic message Carrie Fisher left for the director in her book, The Princess Diarist, before she passed away. The message read, “Special thanks to J. J. Abrams, for putting up with me twice.” Except, Abrams has only worked with Fisher once.
This makes no sense, right?
But here’s the thing, the talented director has been using previously shot scenes featuring Fisher from The Force Awakens that didn’t make in the final cut because the scenes, “just didn’t work in the movie.” Oddly enough, Fisher’s previously recorded scenes work beautifully in the new movie Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which is set to debut in theatres December 20, 2019.
