International rescue efforts are in a race against time to find the OceanGate submersible and its five occupants that have been lost on their way down to the wreck site of the Titanic.
Of course, while we await updates on the search, people are looking into previous OceanGate excursions and coverage to find out more on what could have gone wrong.
In true internet fashion, there are folks joking about the situation which, while maybe inappropriate, the ones about the video game controller running the thing are valid.
Six months ago David Pogue, who does technology reports for CBS, got to go under the surface in the sub and noted several red flags, even mentioning to OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, it all seemed “jerry-rigged”.
Before his ride to the Titanic was canceled due to rough waters, Pogue read and signed the waiver that all passengers must sign. Then, the consolation dive was also scrapped as something came off of the launching platform that wasn’t supposed to.
