Georgia Community’s Iconic ‘Big Peanut’ is Back and Better Than Ever

A local landmark is now back in the city of Ashburn, Georgia after being taken out by Hurricane Michael in October of 2018.

The 18-foot (with pedestal) peanut was originally donated by the Georgia Peanut Commission 49 years ago, as the area is known for its peanut butter peanut production.

A symbol of the community to the Turner County locals, the big peanut meant so much to folks, they fundraised to get it back up, with thousands of dollars coming from the Georgia Peanut Commission again!

Now, it has been rebuilt and while, slightly smaller than the original, it is still the largest peanut in the world!
