Black Hills & Badlands Tourism Association (BH&B) is hosting the 35th Annual Literature (Lit) Swap from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City. The Lit Swap is sponsored by Certified Folder Display, Custer State Park, Workforce Diversity Network, and Lead Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Lit Swap kicks-off the tourism industry’s peak season and celebrates National Travel and Tourism Week, which takes place May 6 to 12, 2018. Businesses may distribute their visitor industry brochures and magazines at the event to South Dakota Department of Tourism Welcome Centers that are located along Interstate 90 and Interstate 29, prior to their May 14 season opening.
More than 220 tourism workers from 125 businesses “swap ‘til they drop” in Rushmore Rooms C & D. The trading action heats up as tourism operators with handcarts, wheelbarrows, and wagons exchange thousands of brochures with each other.
BH&B’s fifth annual Business-to-Business Mingle & Mix is held in conjunction with the Lit Swap in Rushmore Room B. Attendees are encouraged to visit with businesses that support local tourism during the mixer, and learn about the products and services they offer to supply the industry. The event concludes with a season kick-off party at approximately 4:30 p.m.
