Book to Film Movie Night: “The Man Who Invented Christmas”

Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol mixing real-life inspirations with vivid imagination to conjure up a timeless tale, breathing new life into a holiday that had fallen into disfavor in Victorian England. Friday, December 14 from 6:30 – 8:15 p.m. at the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs) experience the magical journey that led to the creation of Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim and other classic characters.

Starring Dan Stevens, Christopher Plummer and Jonathan Pryce, The Man Who Invented Christmas, is based on the book of the same name by Les Standiford. A debt-ridden and dispirited Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol in six weeks and caused a sensation when 6,000 copies sold out within days of its release.  This film is rated PG. Popcorn and beverages will be served.
