Watch This Real Bummer Of A Way To Lose A Baseball Game (Video)

For those not aware, in baseball, if the third pitch is dropped by the catcher, the batter has the opportunity to run to first base. If they make it to first before the catcher or any other player can successfully get the ball to first, they’re safe and the strikeout is negated. Now, most times when this happens, the catcher is able to easily make the play and the batter is out anyway. But during a recent Class A game between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Burlington Bees, that was NOT the case.

Wisconsin was down 6-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs and two strikes and the bases loaded. The batter swung and missed on the third pitch, but the ball skittered past the catcher. The runner took off for first, where the ball was overthrown into right field. All three runners on base ended up scoring, meaning the Timber Rattlers pulled off an impossible victory!
