Vancouver Pedestrian Safety Group Uses Fake Bricks to Promote Safe Street Crossing

Sometimes crosswalks and red lights aren’t enough when it comes to pedestrian safety. Sometimes, people have to take things (or bricks) into their own hands.

Vision Zero Vancouver, a group that works to bring awareness and action to keeping pedestrians safe as they cross, came up with a real clever way to make sure drivers notice people walking by using bricks!

The idea is to have baskets of fake bricks at either side of the intersection for folks to carry and wave at any cars that are coming.

If you ever needed a reason to menacingly wield a brick in the face of an oncoming car, here’s your chance.
