If you ever found yourself wondering if Olive Garden was “authentic” Italian fare, you’re probably not the ripest olive on the branch. However, if you wondered what Italians actually living and working in Italy think of the Americanized soup, salad and breadstick mecca, look no further than this video.
TikTok user, Gabby Donahue, was visiting Italy with her family when it came time for her Boston Irish father to try ordering something for dinner.
While he was in a country known for its incredible cuisine, pops decided he’d rather have the international delicacy that is Olive Garden’s chicken parm.
He shows pictures to the server who looks as though his soul has been shattered and tells the dad, “It doesn’t exist in Italy.”
After he’s shocked to find out breaded chicken goes ON the pasta, he then utters, “No, that’s horrible.”
