Donell Stallworth sealed his place as “Employee of the Year” at the Shrimp Basket in Pensacola, Florida when he went above and beyond to make sure one of the restaurant’s regulars was safe and sound.
Stallworth was working one day when he realized they hadn’t seen a regular 78-year-old customer, who would come in every day for a cup of gumbo, in a few days.
The considerate cook ended up going to the old man’s house to check on him, only to find him lying on the ground after a fall left him with some broken ribs and unable to get back up.
Now, Stallworth has been checking in on the man Shrimp Basket employees refer to as “everyone’s grandpa” every few days as he’s in rehab and recovering.
