For all of you out there trying to find the next spiciest thing and think you would breeze through an episode of “Hot Ones,” how would you stack up against a new pepper that comes in at almost 2.7 million Scoville units?
Meet Pepper X, the new official Guinness World Records holder for hottest chili pepper in the world at 2,693,000-Scoville units.
Ed Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company, who already held the record with the Carolina Reaper Pepper, cross-bred his previous pepper to create Pepper X, which is 500 times hotter than a jalapeno, pepper spray, bear spray and more.
Pepper enthusiasts like “Hot Ones” host Sean Evans, Chili Klaus and Noah Chaimberg tried their luck with Pepper X and gave their thoughts…or at least whatever ones were left.
