Good Samaritans Dive in to Rescue Woman Who Drove Her Car Off Virginia Beach Dock

In Virginia Beach, bystanders, including a Navy rescue swimmer, jumped into cold water to save a woman trapped inside an SUV that had driven off a boat ramp and was rapidly sinking behind a restaurant.

Video shows rescuers smashing windows and eventually pulling her out just before the vehicle fully submerged.

During the struggle the Navy swimmer, Jeremy Way, said the woman initially resisted help and expressed a desire not to be saved, but was eventually convinced to accept their efforts. Way later referenced having struggled with mental health himself while urging anyone in crisis to seek support through available resources.
